学者、江苏省作家协会副主席王尧认为，电影剧本在尊重原著的基础上进行了再创造，删繁就简，历史与现实叠加，江南风情与时代精神激荡，讲述了一段感人至深的故事，温暖而哀伤，堪称江南电影的代表作。先秦典籍《国语·周语》记录了一段发生于公元前500多年的对话，黄钟、大吕、太簇、夹钟、姑洗、中吕、蕤宾、林钟、夷则、南吕、无射、应钟，从乐官伶州鸠的口中徐徐飘出。那一年，孔子30岁，还没有听到“三月不知肉味”的《韶》乐。周文化既浪漫又理性，用一组概念就把转瞬即逝的乐音记录了下来，这就是以“黄钟”为首的十二律名音高序列。如今，当代音乐家把这组符号重新捡拾起来，让古老乐音焕发新生。
